“Private Placement Variable Life/Private Placement Variable Annuities”

This workshop will cover all aspects of Private Placement Variable Annuities and Private Placement Variable Life Insurance, including, but not limited to, the taxation and design of private placement products for the tax sensitive ultra-high net worth client and their heirs. The presentation will discuss the following: deferral or elimination of current period income tax; inter-generational wealth transfer; charitable legacy planning; restructuring high-fee retail variable annuities; dynasty trust investment and tax management; and pre-immigration planning.

"From Privilege to Conflicts to Malpractice

and a Few Things In-Between – Deep Thoughts for Fiduciaries"


Presented by: Thomas M. Karr, Esq., Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A.

This presentation will include an update on three important issues to fiduciaries: the status of the attorney client privilege between fiduciaries and their counsel; the payment of attorneys’ fees out of trust assets in defense of a breach of trust action; and drafting attorneys nominated to serve as fiduciaries. The presentation will also include a discussion of some of the often encountered issues such as the impact of a grantor’s distribution instructions after death; liability that can unexpectedly arise out of counsel’s actions; malpractice claims; and special creditor considerations.

The workshop session has been approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit and the dinner presentation has been approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit for the following disciplines:

CLE (Legal), CFP (Certified Financial Planners) and CPE(Accountancy)
